Color Gamuts and Working Spaces

Adobe RGB
When the goal is to determine a useful working space for SWOP CMYK inks, Adobe RGB is a recommended editing or working space. It covers most of the SWOP ink gamut, without wasting pixels. As you can see, it does excurse into the greens.
Srgb
Srgb is not as useful an editing or working space for SWOP inks, as it covers too few of the SWOP colors. It is best used for web images and office documents.
Best RGB
Best RGB and ProPhoto RGB are too large for SWOP; the range of editing into the greens and reds is much more than would be reproduced.
Best RGB is suggested as a working space for input from many scanners, as it is larger than the range of Adobe RGB, without the wasting of pixels in ProPhoto RGB
ProPhoto RGB
ProPhoto RGB even contains color assignments for which there are no colors at all! However, it is a popular space for archiving high-bit scans, from which the files are then converted for output into a more reasonable editing space.
